Second Chances

I told Suzzanne I wasn't a big Jason Mraz fan. She told me I was listening to the wrong songs and made me a mix. She was right.

My favorite song on the cd she made is 93 Million Miles

In addition to loving this song because it's just so pretty, it makes me think of my mom. Part of the song says, "...in life you're gonna go far, and if you do it right you'll love where you are. Just know, that wherever you go, you can always come back home."

This sounds overly cliche, but as I get older, I need my mom more than ever. No, that's not accurate. I think I actually realize more just how much I need my mom. And my mom has always adopted the mentality that her home is always open to her children. In 2007, I was living in Provo and struggling. My personal life was in shambles, and my academic life was all but extinct. My parents didn't have to think twice when I asked to move back home. Since that time, I've known without a doubt that I'm always welcome and 6542 will always be where I call home.

I'm extra nostalgic because I get to see my family soon (15 days 'til I roll into the WVC) and thinking about seeing my family makes me miss my family. To fill the gap, I'll just keep listening to this song.

I'm glad I gave Mr. Mraz a second chance.

93 million miles from the Sun, people get ready get ready,
'cause here it comes it’s a light, a beautiful light, over the horizon into our eyes
Oh, my my how beautiful, oh my beautiful mother
She told me, "Son in life you’re gonna go far, and if you do it right you’ll love where you are
Just know, that wherever you go, you can always come home"

240 thousand miles from the Moon, we’ve come a long way to belong here,

To share this view of the night, a glorious night, over the horizon is another bright sky
Oh, my my how beautiful, oh my irrefutable father,
He told me, "Son sometimes it may seem dark, but the absence of the light is a necessary part.
Just know, you’re never alone, you can always come back home"

You can always come back…back…

Every road is a slippery slope

There is always a hand that you can hold on to.
Looking deeper through the telescope
You can see that your home’s inside of you.

Just know, that wherever you go, no you’re never alone, you will always get back home

93 million miles from the Sun, people get ready get ready,

'cause here it comes it’s a light, a beautiful light, over the horizon into our eyes…

Wendy Marie. How did we live together for 2 years, and I never converted you to Jason Mraz. I'm a failure.

I love Jason Mraz, even the cheesy songs that I should be too cool for, but I'm not. That said, I also love what you had to say about your mom and coming home. I think that is all soooo true. Hope you are having a great summer (boy does that sound like a 7th grade year book entry).
